EWGA-Canada – Greater Toronto Area Chapter

Connect ¨ Learn ¨ Play ¨ Belong™

The EWGA's (Executive Women's Golf Association) mission is connecting women
to learn, play and enjoy golf for business and for fun
.

The Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA), a not-for-profit organization, was founded in the U.S in 1991 to provide opportunities for women to learn, play and enjoy the game of golf. The EWGA now has over 20,000 members worldwide and over 120 chapters.   In 1998, the EWGA was brought to Canada.  In late 2002, the Chapter name was changed to Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to better reflect our member demographics.  From its modest beginnings we have grown to a membership approximately 275 women of all golfing abilities. In 2008, the Canadian Chapters, along with France, formed the EWGA International Division and EWGA Canada was mandated to promote the organization throughout the country.

The EWGA-Canada GTA Chapter is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors including:

  • Four elected officer positions; President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer
  • Board appointed the chairs for other positions -- such as membership, member courses, events, education, rules and handicap, sponsorship and webmaster

The hands-on organization of the association’s activities is carried out by our volunteer Board and includes:

  • Setting the Chapter’s annual business plan and budget in January.
  • Meeting monthly to plan special events tournaments, league play, social and educational events.
  • Developing marketing plans, facilitating sponsorship, managing volunteer and succession planning.
  • Facilitating member volunteerism.

Events

  • Each spring the EWGA-Canada GTA Chapter holds an Annual General Meeting.
  • Following the AGM we hold our Chapter’s Season Opener, which marks the beginning of the much-awaited golfing season.
  • Throughout the golf season, we offer evening member course play, weekday and weekend golf outings, meet-the-member nights, competitive events, CPGA golf skills clinics and educational seminars.
  • Women who are new to golf enjoy our clinics and mentoring program.
  • EWGA also hosts the world's largest amateur golf tournament. Beginning in July, we hold a Chapter Championship for all levels of golfers. Winners of their flights move on to the Sectional Championship in the U.S. Again, the winners of their flights will travel to the September Championship Finals.
  • Every summer we compete with the EWGA Metro Detroit Chapter in "The Border Cup", a unique team competition. "The Lady" trophy travels back and forth across the border regularly, with each team vying to keep her until the next year.
  • A handicap is required for all competitive events.  If you don't have one, we'll help you get one.

We keep our members up to date on all events through the Chapter website and email newsflashes.

The EWGA-Canada Greater Toronto Area Chapter offers women throughout the GTA the unique opportunity to learn golf in a friendly and fun environment, to expand their golfing abilities through education, regular league play and competitive tournaments and to make new business contacts.

Come, play with us!
