Privacy Pledge

 

The EWGA GTA Chapter respects the privacy of its members and we are committed to protecting your personal information. The EWGA GTA Chapter has developed the following privacy pledge to comply with the relevant portions of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada).

Our Privacy Protection Pledge was developed to help you better understand the purposes for which we collect personal information. We also want to make certain that we have your consent to continue to collect, use and disclose your personal information for those purposes.

The following is a brief summary of our privacy practices:

What types of information do we collect and store?

We respect your privacy, which is why we only collect the following types of information from you:

  1. Information we have received from you on your membership application. This may include your name, business title, address, home and business telephone numbers, home and business email addresses and credit card information;

  2. Your participation information including the events you participated in and your volunteer activities;

  3. Information you may provide to us on a voluntary basis when we conduct a survey of your needs, wishes and opinions regarding EWGA.

Why do we need to collect your personal information?

We collect personal information only for the following purposes:

  1. to identify individuals;

  2. to establish, maintain, communicate and renew membership in the EWGA;

  3. to advertise, develop, enhance and provide marketing services and products to our members;

  4. to measure and improve the effectiveness of EWGA services, products and marketing programs.

When do we disclose personal information?

There are limited circumstances where we may disclose personal information to third parties. For example, we may disclose an individual’s personal information to:

  1. the EWGA’s Association Headquarters in order to fulfill member services and benefits;

  2. a third party (typically a sponsor) involved in supplying our members with EWGA special offers;

  3. a third party engaged by the EWGA for the development, enhancement, marketing or provision of any of the EWGA’s products or services.

How do we protect your personal information?

In order to protect your personal information, the EWGA GTA Chapter:

  1. Will not collect, use or disclose your personal information for any purpose other than those identified above, except with your further consent;

  2. Will protect your personal information, including credit card information, with appropriate security safeguards;

  3. Will protect the confidentiality of your personal information when dealing with other organizations;

  4. Will strive to keep your personal information as accurate, complete and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes identified above; and

  5. Will honor requests you may make for access to your personal information.

What are your choices?

We would like to have your consent to continue to collect, use and disclose your personal information for the purposes identified above. However, you do have choices and may refuse or withdraw your consent as follows:

  1. You may refuse to provide your personal information to us.

  2. You may also withdraw your consent at any time, subject to reasonable notice.
    However, in either case, this will limit our ability to serve you. If we do not hear from you we will assume that we have your consent to collect, use and disclose your personal information for the purposes identified above.
